Touriam in Brazil

Tourism in Briazil has help to increase the government revenue of Brazil. The country had 4.8 million visitors in 2009, the main destination in South America, and second in Latin America after Mexico, in terms of the international tourist arrivals.According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), international travel to Brazil began to grow fast since 2000, particularly during 2004 and 2005. However, in 2006 a slow down took place, and international arrivals have had almost no growth both in 2007 and 2008.

Revenues from international tourists reached US$5.3 billion in 2009. Both arrivals and revenues fell in 2009 as compared to the previous year due to the effects of the 2008-2009 economic crisis.
